Forgiveness is one of those subjects that we sometimes have a hard time with because sometimes it’s difficult to give and difficult to ask others to forgive you. This is why we need the power of the Holy Spirit. Forgiveness will always free the person who asks for it as well as give it. Forgiveness is freedom, that’s why God first forgave us.

Some people believe in religion. But Jesus wants us to believe in Him. The story of the adulterous woman paints a picture of Jesus and religion. Religion is focused on self-righteousness. Jesus is righteousness. Religion wants to impact, but Jesus brings transformation. Religion tries to look good, but Jesus is good. Religion tries its best, but Jesus is the best. Religion tries to remove Jesus from the equation, but Jesus says, “I am the answer.” This morning, we’re going to discover three Biblical principles that lead us to the truth about Jesus and religion.

Now, when we look throughout the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) we see that Jesus often spoke in parables or stories to help those He was speaking to, understand the concept that Jesus was trying to present. In His parables, Jesus would illustrate the knowledge of the secrets of heaven and make it relatable to everyone who heard Him. And there is none more relatable than the parable of the Prodigal Son. We find this parable in Luke 15:11-32.

Every life has value and as we get older, whether we know it or not, we are all building a legacy for others to follow. For some, they seize the opportunity, for others, they watch it pass them by. As God's people, we are never finished from building a legacy for future generations to follow. 

We all want and desire “full riches of complete understanding” but not just for random things, “in order that we would know the mystery of God, specifically Jesus Christ.” Why Him? Because it's in Him that “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” are kept.

In our world today, there are so many counterfeits that try to guide us in life. But nothing compares to the Lord because He guides us to life. This morning, we’re going to discover three decisions that help us receive God’s guidance for our lives and what happens when we make those choices. 

There are many things in life that we chase after outside of God, thinking it's going to bring us satisfaction and fulfillment, only to find out that without Christ, everything else is not as valuable and satisfying as we thought. 

With all that is happening around the world, it can seem as if God is not present and His power ineffective. Many people are scared because of nuclear threats, life threatening diseases, foodborne illness, economic collapse, and distrust among governments. Jesus came to remind us that in Him, we can find security.

We have been called to be His full-time ministers, His letters, to the world. How do I tap into God-given competency, to effectively minister the Gospel?

When Jesus' disciples asked Him questions, Jesus gave them wisdom that helped them with everyday life. Those who didn't ask Him questions, remained in their own wisdom and weren't able to draw closer to God. We're going to learn why it's important for us to lean into the wisdom of God and what happens when we do.

There is a reason for ministry. Believers are all full-time ministers. God's purpose for believers in the world is to reach others for Him. We are considered purposeful letters from God to the rest of the world. 

God gave us the message of good news that brings us closer to Himself through a relationship with Jesus Christ. The devil wants us to believe that people don't want to hear anything about God, yet the Bible tells us "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news."

God uses us as His letters to the world.

God has promised us eternal life and the devil comes in to distract us from receiving what God has promised. He uses a counterfeit of eternal life so that we live our life in opposition to the ways of God thinking we’re okay. We’re going to learn some truths regarding eternal life.

There are many images in our world that we recognize very quickly. Pictures of famous people, company logos, slogans, and statues. With all the images we come across daily, it's no wonder that when it comes to the image of God, we have a difficult time seeing Him. We're going to learn that if we want to see the Father, we just need to look at Jesus, the image of God.

Father's teach us about honor and strength. We're going to learn from four father's: Noah, the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth. Abraham, the father of Isaac and Ishmael (and many others). Jairus, whose daughter was sick and died. Joseph, the stepfather of Jesus. We're going to learn that in our weakness, He is strong.

There are so many religions in the world, one has to ask the question, “What religion is correct?” We are going to explore the fundamental reasoning behind religion and how we are to determine what religion is correct and why.

It is very obvious that there is evil in this world. Mankind continues its downward landslide towards darkness. But there is hope in an evil world that Jesus came to bring.

The question, "Why does God allow suffering," is a common question that believers and unbelievers ask. We're going to explore the bible to find out the answer to that question.

Many people are so focused about when Jesus is coming back that they never enjoy His presence now. We're going to learn what it means to enjoy the present, without neglecting the future.”

Mother's teach us some of life's greatest lessons. We're going to learn from four mother's: Eve, the original mother. Her children were Cain, Abel and Seth (and others not listed). Jochebed, the mother of Moses. Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau. Mary, the mother of Jesus.

There are many men and women who gave their lives to the calling God had for them, regardless of government, culture, family situation, national wars, and what was happening in their personal life. We’re going to learn how a timeless faith will strengthen you to stand firm in a temporary world.

When it comes to trusting God with my future, health, spirit, destiny and family, it's a little easy to do. But when it comes to trusting God with my finances, I'm a little hesitant. You will rediscover why trusting God with your finances is wiser than trusting anyone else with it.

Belief and faith may sound the same, it can even sometimes point in the same direction. Belief can be compromised, while faith comes with a promise. How can our faith, along with God's promises, keep us moving in the right direction for the best future God has for us? We are going to learn how to have an unshakeable faith when our lives are surrounded by systems and lifestyles that fail at the smallest problem.

Heaven has always been a "far place" to think about as a child. Maybe the thoughts of Heaven gave us security growing up that there is a perfect place we will all one day end up in. For some, Heaven is no longer the hope to look forward to for various reasons. Hurt, pain, disappointment, anger, has caused the hope of Heaven to slowly vanish from your faith. Today, we're going to rediscover Heaven and the hope we have through Jesus.

Like Joseph, we endure many hardships throughout our lives. However, like Joseph, we also get to enjoy His blessings. I want to be so confident in His promises for my life that I not only endure the hardships, but I stubbornly and confidently grow in my faith until I die. But they can leave my bones – I want new ones! I think this is not to be just an evening of instruction, but one of encouragement.

What does it mean to truly live? Jesus said that, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” We sometimes get stuck in a rut, routine, or habits that shape our everyday life that we just exist. Jesus wants us to enjoy the life He's given to us.

When we put our faith in the hands of the Lord, there are more things that happen than just a faith of salvation. There is a faith that should continue. But life hits us as well as complacency and we find our faith slowly diminishing. How can we have a faith that endures throughout the tests of time and life? We're going to learn from the faith of Jacob how we can have a faith that endures, even to our last breath. 

When God created family, it was all about relationship. Not only were we to relate to one another, but also to relate to God. He wanted to be a part of the family. What happens when the family forgets the value of relationship? Not only with each other, but also with God? We're going to learn that God sent Jesus so that we could once again rediscover what family is all about.

We don't know what the future holds, but we do know who holds the future. God has everything in sight and knows very well what is taking place in the world today, as well as what will take place in the future. We're going to learn how one father's faith, Isaac, was able to bless his two sons, Jacob and Esau.

We use the word greatness to describe the kind of person that has achieved great things. We label sports athletes, famous personalities, innovators and the like with the word greatness. But what does it mean to achieve greatness? Does one have to do something on a grand scale to receive that title? The way the world sees greatness and the way God sees greatness may not be the same all the time. The bible gives us a clear picture of what greatness truly is.

Abraham had the kind of faith that relied on obedience rather than feeling or sight. He obeyed without the answers first. We're going to learn that an obedient faith keeps us moving in God's plan and is the kind of faith God looks for.

Noah kept the faith, even when there was no evidence to do so. There was no rain to be seen in the near future, yet his faith wasn't in what was seen, it was in the unseen.

It is often said that “Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air...but only for one second without hope.” What happens when one loses hope? How do you rediscover hope when it seems all is hopeless? We're going to learn from the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the grave how we can rediscover hope.

This week our honored guest from the Hall of Faith is Enoch. Only 6 verses in the Bible are about him but we learn so much. He walked with God for 300 years!

When we see the difficulties people go through and what goes on in our families and work environments, we can miss the heart of being in this relationship with Jesus. We can get caught up in the world and lose who we are in Christ. Sometimes we lose our love for the Lord and all we need to do is rediscover Jesus. 

The kind of faith we want to develop is the kind of faith that Abel had when he offered up to God an offering more pleasing than his brother Cain. And even though Abel has died, his faith still speaks till this day. We're going to learn how to develop a faith that still speaks, even though we are no longer present.

It is often said that, "Leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less." With everything that is happening in our world, it's so easy to get lost in the influence of negativity and justification. You are still a person with influence, so don't let the world influence you, turn it around and begin to influence the world for Christ. 

Faith begins with seeing that what was created, was created by what is not seen. Our faith will always be challenged because we live with our senses that tells us what action to take. We're going to learn how to live by faith when we've learned how to live by our senses.

We were all created in the image of God. Sometimes life and what we physically see, causes us to forget who we are and what it means to be created in the image of God. We are going to learn the power that comes with knowing we are created in God's image.

We all have a race that God has set for each of us to run. But as we run this race, we will encounter times of pain, hardships, doubts, challenges, setbacks, and even failures. These often become quitting points, moments in our lives where we want to just give up, give in, throw in the towel, close up shop, and be done. We can’t stop quitting points from showing up in the race of our lives. But we can overcome them by applying three principles that will help us stay in the race and run to win the prize!

God called David to become Israel's next king after King Saul. When people see a shepherd, God may see a king. Never despise the little things God may be doing in your life.

What does the bible mean that we are "Surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses?" How does this help me in the race I'm in when it comes to my life? We're going to learn that we are not running this race alone. We have strong support, even when we don't see it.

God's love attacks. His love pursues us and once He grips us with His love, it will be His love that we'll learn from and draw from in how to love one another.

We all have a race to run. Hebrews 12:1 tells us, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us."

The bible says in Psalm 145:4, "One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts." We are to be a generation of people who continue to pass on to the next generation the wonderful things of God. We're going to learn how important it is as the older generation, to live out who God instructs us to be in the shaping of the next generation.

Endurance is defined as, "The fact or power of enduring an unpleasant or difficult process or situation without giving way. The ability or strength to continue or last, especially despite fatigue, stress, or other adverse conditions." The good news is that God is the One who strengthens us when we are at our weakest. We're going to learn how to run with endurance when life is difficult.

When I realize how much I've been forgiven, that will be the beginning of great change. It's through God's forgiveness that changes me. 

When God created the earth, it began as formless and void. When God created man, He started with dirt and formed man. When God changes things, it gets messy. Life can be messy, but God is able to take mess and create something great.

There is a difference between rest and recovery. Rest is so you have the necessary energy for future use. Recovery is resting due to past injury. Rest prepares us, recovery repairs us. Rest puts energy into our life. Recovery gets us back to bare minimum.

When I decide to make a change, I must have the mentality of making that change forever. I must start now. Delayed obedience is still disobedience. 

Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is valuable in every way, because it promises life both for the present and for the future.

The bible likens us to clay and God is the potter. The potter is the one who shapes the clay, not the other way around. God has a way of doing things in our lives that we may not agree with or understand at the moment, but as He shapes us, and as we cooperate, we begin to see that God has plans for us far greater than our plans for ourselves. 

God gives each of us a race to run...on YOUR mark means to focus on your starting point and your race, no one else's.
